DATELINE FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 3 2010

Cadiz news and informationThe president of the Cádiz Port Authority, Rafael Barra, has said it is too soon to talk of the development of the Puerto América zone. He believes 2013 is a suitable date although the mayor Teófila Martínez wants action now. He also denies saying that delays to the second bridge would harm the port rather its opening would enhance its operations. The Viento de Levante yacht club in Cádiz is to increase the number of moorings and their size. Forty new mooring are being created with half eight metres in length. Strong winds and high seas off Cádiz led to the red warning flags being flown at the start of the week. None-the-less life guards were still required to carry out some rescues. The number of companies registered in the province of Cádiz has fallen to the same level as in 2005. In January the total was 61,056 which is 1,761 fewer than 12 months previous. The Cádiz president of the PP, José Loaiza, says the province has the highest level of women unemployed in Spain. White caviar is to be produced in Puerto Real. A company is setting up this month and will be the first in Spain. Blas Hervías expects to distribute 300 kilos of the product in its first year. White caviar comes from the eggs of a breed of snail that is native to Latin America. Fifty grams costs 90 euros.
